# Camera Orientation

Camera orientation is controlled by `Camera Rotation Mode` and `Camera Roll Pitch Yaw`. Together, these settings determine how the camera rotates and whether its orientation is tied to the `Orbit Target`.

## Camera Rotation Mode

`Camera Rotation Mode` determines how `Pitch` and `Yaw` are applied. Two modes are available: `Orbit Target` and `Free Rotation`.

### Orbit Target

In `Orbit Target` mode, the camera rotates around the `Orbit Target` while continuing to look toward it.

`Yaw` moves the camera horizontally around the target, while `Pitch` moves it above or below the horizontal orbit. The distance between the camera and the `Orbit Target` remains unchanged during these rotations.

This mode is especially useful for orbiting around a point of interest on or above the Earth's surface while keeping it as the visual focus of the shot.

### Free Rotation

In `Free Rotation` mode, the camera rotates around its own position instead of orbiting around the `Orbit Target`.

`Pitch` and `Yaw` change the camera's viewing direction without moving it around the target. This allows the camera to look away from the `Orbit Target` while retaining its current position.

The `Orbit Target` remains the geographic positioning reference, but the camera is no longer required to look directly toward it.

## Camera Roll Pitch Yaw

`Camera Roll Pitch Yaw` provides additional control over the camera orientation. The behavior of `Pitch` and `Yaw` depends on the selected `Camera Rotation Mode`, as described above.

`Roll` behaves the same in both modes and rotates the camera around its longitudinal viewing axis, allowing the horizon or overall frame to be tilted without changing the camera position.
